So, without further ado here are 6 Dior Bags That Are Worth Collecting:
1. Lady Dior Bag
The most classic of all Dior bags the Lady Dior is an icon. In 1995, Bernadette Chirac then first lady of France contacted Christian Dior, explaining that she wished to gift the Princess of Wales a unique handbag upon her visit to Paris. The Maison created a beautiful structured black bag, unofficially named the Chouchou. It was presented to Lady Diana at the Cézanne exhibition at the Grand Palais. Shortly after, the Princess was photographed several times with the bag on her arm. Described as “iconic” and “legendary”, Dior launched the bag in a larger series and changed the name to the “Lady Dior” in 1996 with Princess Diana’s blessing. Over the decades, the Lady Dior bag has been established as an enduring icon of the House. It’s most notably distinguished by its structured shape, geometric Cannage topstitching and ‘D.I.O.R.’ charm.
The black Lady Dior is perfect for every occasion, it goes from day to evening seamlessly! The Lady 95.22 bag and the Lady D Joy are also worth collecting!
2. Dior Book Tote
The Book Tote was launched in 2018 and today is a favorite of Dior clients. It’s not difficult to see why Dior’s Book Tote remains so popular – the style, which has fast become a staple of the house, is the perfect way to elevate any daytime ensemble. The Dior Book Tote is distinguished by its seamless combination of sophistication and relaxed style. The Maria Grazia Chiuri creation has been reimaged in an array of silhouettes and styles, each one as elegant as the last. The tote exemplifies the House’s signature savoir-faire and may be carried by hand or worn over the shoulder. And this is a bag with great resale value, Rebag says it sells for 98% of its original value.
And if you are tired of the classic Dior print, each seasonal collection comes with new designs for you to choose from.
3. Dior Saddle Bag
The Saddle Bag was first created in 1999 at the peak of John Galliano’s Dior tenure. Its initial appearance toed the line between what was considered high fashion and, for lack of a better word, ugly. Intended to be worn short-strapped and tight against the arm like a saddle, the accessory became an instant trend sported by everyone from Beyoncé to Carrie Bradshaw. In 2018 Maria Grazia Chiurri relaunched this bag and it has since become a part of the classic styles of the brand. The Dior Saddle bag takes its cues from the equestrian world. The inspiration can be seen in the graphic design with the now iconic asymmetrical flap that is reminiscent of a saddle shape. And its magnetic ‘D’ is influenced by stirrup clasps, while the signature ‘CD’ on each side makes the design distinctively Dior.
The Saddle has been back in style for a few years now, but it is still going strong!
4. Dior Caro Bag
Launched in the beginning of 2021 this bag takes inspiration from Cristian Dior’s life. A tribute to Christian Dior’s sister, Catherine – known affectionately as “Caro,”– the Dior Caro bag bares the iconic caning motif. The bag is crafted at the Dior ateliers in Italy, with exceptional materials and craftmanship. The design is crafted in matte calfskin and is distinguished by its original quilted-effect Macrocannage stitching. The bag features a flap adorned with an antique gold-finish metal ‘CD’ twist clasp, inspired by the seal of a Christian Dior perfume bottle. The detachable chain shoulder strap with ‘CD’ signature links allows the medium bag to be carried by hand or worn over the shoulder and may be replaced by one of the House’s wide embroidered straps.
This bag combines modernity with timeless elegance!
5. Dior 30 Montaigne Bag
Launched in 2019 this bag is a tribute to the historic House address and famous sanctuary of Christian Dior. The dream office, as he would affectionately call it, remains a source of luck and inspiration for Dior. The handbag is crafted in black box calfskin for an elegant and modern look. The flap is embellished with an antique gold-finish metal ‘CD’ clasp, inspired by the seal of a Christian Dior perfume bottle. Refined details, such as an embossed ’30 MONTAIGNE’ signature on the back, define this unique design. Featuring an adjustable leather shoulder strap, the bag may be carried by hand, worn over the shoulder or crossbody.
I love this bag, it is chic, understated and for me a classic.
6. Dior Bobby Bag
Named after Christian Dior’s beloved pet, the Dior Bobby bag is Maria Grazia Chiuri’s celebration of the notion of loyalty. The bag is supposed to be a loyal companion to the modern woman thanks to its enduring style and craftsmanship. One of the newer additions to the House’s collection the Bobby was launched in the fall 2020 collection. Its signature details include a structured silhouette, flap closure, military-inspired buckle, adjustable shoulder straps and a ‘CD’ signature at the front. The shoulder straps can be removed and replaced with seasonal ones to bring a personalized element to each bag. The unique design embodies the House’s marriage of heritage and contemporary essence.
This is a chic bag that is perfect for everyday wear!
