2023 was a great year for fashion! Here I’ll show you which were the most popular brands of the year according to the Lyst Index, taking into consideration brand searches, product views and sales. The brands you’ll see here were the best brands of the year!
So, without further ado here are The Top 10 Designer Brands Of 2023:
1. Prada
Prada is an Italian luxury fashion house that was founded in 1913 by Mario Prada. It specializes in leather handbags, travel accessories, shoes, ready-to-wear, perfumes and other accessories. The first Prada store was opened in 1913 in the prestigious Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II in Milan, where he sold precious bags, trunks and travel accessories. Prada is truly a family company, today the granddaughter of Mario Prada, Miuccia Prada is the creative director and together with her husband Patrizio Bertelli they lead this legacy company so that they always continue on the top! In 2023 they focused on the classics, like the Prada Galleria bag, but also launched some new icons, like the Arquè Bag, not to mention their ready-to-wear lines that were very popular.

2. Miu Miu
Miu Miu was born in 1993 from the independent and unconventional spirit of Miuccia Prada. The brand is the most unrestrained portrayal of Miuccia Prada’s creativity. Intentionally far from traditional aesthetic imagery, the brand conveys the essence of an emancipated and conscious woman. The brand is now more popular than ever, with their prep collections and cult accessories it is one of the best designer brands of the year.
Some of the most popular accessories of the year were Miu Miu, like the ballet flats, the New Balance sneaker, the Wander bag and the Arcadie Bag, which is a big bet also for 2024.
3. Loewe
Loewe is one of the world’s oldest luxury houses, founded in 1846 in Spain, and today under the creative direction of Jonathan Anderson. The brand is defined by an obsessive focus on craft and unmatched expertise with leather, dating back to its beginnings as a leathermaking collective. In recent years we have seen their popularity grow exponentially. The new youthful and effortless cool vibe of the brand is what has been attracting the millennial and gen z crowd. But all that is still done with impeccable Spanish craftsmanship and materials.
The most popular brand of 2023 summer was Loewe, with their Paula Ibiza collection, this year they have also launched bags like the Paseo, the Squeeze and the Puzzle Fold tote.
4. Bottega Veneta
Bottega Veneta has set a new standard for Luxury since its birth in Vicenza in 1966. Inspired by Italian culture with a global outlook, the House is defined by a distinctly refined attitude. Bottega Veneta uses noble materials to create considered pieces that become part of their owner’s lives. The brand does not use logos or monograms. They rely on their exquisite craftsmanship and timeless designs to set them apart.
Under the direction of Matthieu Blazy the brand has launched this year some of the most popular bags of 2023, the Andiamo and the Hop. It was a great year for Bottega Veneta!
5. Versace
Founded in 1978 in Milan, Versace is one of the leading international fashion design houses and a symbol of Italian luxury world-wide. It designs, manufactures, distributes and retails fashion and lifestyle products including haute couture, prèt-à-porter, accessories, jewellery, watches, eyewear, fragrances, and home furnishings all bearing the distinctive Medusa logo. Today led by Donatella Versace the brand continues to present their heritage and style in contemporary pieces that are always iconic.
In 2023 Versace partnered with Dua Lipa for La Vacanza collection. They also launched La Greca bag that was super popular.
6. Valentino
Valentino is an Italian luxury fashion house founded in 1959 by Valentino Garavani. The Maison Valentino plays a major role in the luxury division through tradition and innovation, a necessary combination for a creative industry that generates the sense of beauty. Valentino’s fashion is displayed through the Haute Couture and Prêt-à-Porter lines for women and for men and through the Valentino Garavani accessories line that includes shoes, bags, small leather goods, eyewear, scarves, ties and fragrances. Since 2008 the brand is headed by Pierpaolo Piccioli, and he is on a winning streak of creating some of the most beautiful bags out there. In 2023 the brand launched beautiful collections and campaigns with Florence Pugh and Zendaya.
Valentino recently launched the VLogo Moon bag, which will be the next it bag of the brand.
7. Moncler
The name Moncler is in fact the abbreviation of Monestier-de-Clermont, a mountain village near Grenoble. There René Ramillon and André Vincent founded the Company in 1952. From there Moncler would go on to produce the renowned down jacket, creating garments conceived to protect workers who wore them over their overalls and that offered high resistance and protection against the harshest climates and that were put to the test in a variety of expeditions. Today Moncler is the most iconic brand of its kind, providing snow gear and jackets that will last your whole life.
In 2023 the brand presented many collaborations and collections, with New Balance and Pharrell Williams for example.
8. Saint Laurent
Founded in 1961, Yves Saint Laurent is one of the most prominent fashion houses of the 20th century. Originally a House of Haute Couture, Yves Saint Laurent revolutionized the way fashion and society merge and interact in 1966 with the introduction of high-end made clothes produced on a larger scale than the exclusive collections. The Maison was from the beginning revolutionary, and this spirit is a fundamental part of its DNA. Aside from their ready to wear line, Saint Laurent handbags are also their hallmark. The Parisian maison is renowned for producing some of the most enduring silhouettes that can transform even the most casual of outfits. And the current creative director Anthony Vaccarrello continues to ensure that Saint Laurent bags retain their contemporary relevance.
Saint Laurent ready-to-wear collection were very popular in 2023. Halley Bieber and Zoe Kravitz were often spotted wearing the brand, adding to the popularity of Saint Laurent.
9. Gucci
Gucci is a luxury fashion house based in Florence, Italy that was founded in 1921 by Guccio Gucci. Its product lines include handbags, ready-to-wear, footwear, accessories, makeup, fragrances, and home decoration. During the 2010s, Gucci became an iconic ‘geek-chic’ brand. In recent years we have seen Gucci achieve spectacular growth by adopting an eclectic, youth-forward style, by expanding into relatively lower-priced items, like flip-flops, t-shirts and sneakers. 2023 was the first year of the new creative director Sabato de Sarno, which explains why the brand isn’t higher on this list.
The new director is promising but we’ll have to wait and see how the brand performs in the upcoming years.
10. Dior
Dior is a French luxury fashion house founded in 1946 by French fashion designer Christian Dior. This internationally renowned brand is known for its elegance and timeless femininity. From their ready-to-wear fashion, leather goods, accessories, or footwear, Dior changed the game forever. In 2023 Dior released some new bags like the Toujours and the Lady 95.22, but it is still the classic bags of the brand that make them so beloved.
The Lady Dior bag continues to be the most iconic of the brand. And a new version called the Lady D-Joy is super popular in 2023!
