This cycle of fashion trends takes usually 20 years, but with social media and fast fashion this cycle is becoming shorter and shorter. In the next few years we’ll begin to see it bags from the yearly 2010’s coming back in fashion, those oversized minimalist bags we loved so much!
Here I’ll show you 10 iconic styles that will become super popular once more, some bags on this list might be considered classics or you might say they never went out of fashion, but I promise you they will be even more popular in just a few years!
So, without further ado here are 10 Designer Bags From the 2010’s That Will Come Back In Style:
1. Celine Luggage Tote
One of the most popular bags of all time and the most famous Celine bag, the Luggage is an icon. Designed by the queen of minimalism herself, it was Phoebe Philo’s first It bag for the brand, released in the Spring 2010 collection. With its distinctive front face adorned with a zipper and availability in multiple colors and materials, it is not hard to see why the Celine Luggage, even after a decade of its launch, still appeals to fashion connoisseurs of all ages and tastes.
This bag was extremely popular in the 2010’s and because of it’s minimalist and iconic style this will be an it bag again!
2. Givenchy Antigona
Launched in Givenchy’s fall/ winter 2010 collection, the Antigona bag is probably the fashion house’s most renowned piece. Minimalist, structured, and elegant, the Antigona immediately won the hearts of many icons, such as Beyoncé, Chrissy Teigen, and Naomi Watts, as soon as it became available for purchase. It was named after Antigone, from Greek mythology, and perfectly encapsulates Givenchy’s former creative director’s fascination for the feminine/masculine contrast.
The Antigona is beautifully structured and usually crafted in calfskin leather. This piece features a triangular GIVENCHY patch, oversized zip, and an adjustable and removable shoulder strap.
This is the most iconic Givenchy bag and continues to be popular until this day so just wait and see how popular I will be once 2010’s fashion is back in style!
3. Saint Laurent Sac de Jour
The most classic of all Saint Laurent bags the Sac De Jour was designed in 2013 by then creative director Hedi Slimane. During his tenure Slimane changed Saint Laurent more than any other creative director, not only through his designs but mostly because he changed the brands name from Yves Saint Laurent to Saint Laurent Paris. Representative of this era the Sac De Jour or bag of the day was inspired by the Hermès Birkin and is one of those bags that will never go out of style. This bag also does not have flashy logos, only a small Saint Laurent Paris marking near the top.
The Sac de Jour is elegant, chic and fashionable and with the different sizes offered they can easily go from work, to lunch, to a night out. This bag might be a classic style of the brand but I predict a peak in popularity is coming!
4. Chanel Boy Bag
This is one of those bags I mentioned aren’t really out of style and might be considered classics, but it might have another peak in popularity in a few years. Debuted in 2011 in Chanel’s Fall/Winter collection, the Chanel Boy Bag struck a chord among lovers of Chanel handbags and romantics alike, cementing a place as a mainstay in Chanel’s collection. For this handbag, Karl Lagerfeld was inspired by Chanel’s life. Arthur “Boy” Capel was a polo player and Coco Chanel’s greatest love, with whom she had a nine-year passionate affair. With the Boy Bag, Chanel offers a more masculine edge, paying homage to the radical spirit of Coco Chanel and her mission to push the boundaries of femininity and gender norms.
To little surprise, this Chanel bag was met with a surge of demand, quickly becoming one of Chanel’s most sought-after styles among style icons. Characterized by its lego-brick lock and main body framed by straight edges, the Chanel Boy Bag is admired for its versatile silhouette and unique, limited-edition versions.
Nearly every season, exciting and unexpected variations of the Boy Bag are released, keeping the Chanel community on its toes and always eager for more.
5. Chloé Faye Bag
Launched for Spring/Summer 2015 the Faye bag was an instant hit! A favorite of OG bloggers and influencers this bag was every fashion lover’s dream. The flawless combination of smooth and suede calfskin adds textural depth, punctuated with cool hardware for subtle 70s flair. The Faye is characterized by the “piercing” ring loop with hook and chain — the rounded shapes complement the bag’s clean lines. The luxurious accordion-shaped style makes Faye a sophisticated carry-all.
7 years later the bag is not so popular anymore, but if the old Chloé style comes back, this bag will be super trendy.
6. Celine Trapeze
Designed by Phoebe Philo in 2010, this is one of the Old Celine’s most important bags! It was extremely popular throughout the 2010’s and was one of the most copied styles in the history of designer handbags. With wings like the luggage, a flap closure and a top handle this bag is the perfect representation of the Celine style! This bag is spacious, sophisticated and beautiful, and it came in different sizes, from large to mini. This bag is not currently available in Celine’s offerings, but you can still find it in the resale market.
If you have one of these bags, my advice is hold on to it, because it will come back in fashion in just a few years!
7. Burberry Orchard Bag
Introduced in the fall 2012 collection this was the brand’s most popular bag of the time. It was inspired by vintage luggage and the British countryside. The Orchard was an elegant expression of Burberry’s craftsmanship reflecting a dedication to iconic design. This bag was spotted on the arms of Blake Lively, Emma Stone and Sarah Jessica Parker to name a few. It was offered in many sizes, colors and materials, but being the 2010’s the larger one was the most popular.
Elegant, structured and stylish this bag was an icon. And is one of the 10 Designer Bags From the 2010’s That Will Come Back In Style!
8. Mulberry Alexa bag
Inspired by the much-loved style of Alexa Chung and incorporating the signature Mulberry Postman’s Lock hardware, the Alexa quickly became a house design classic and the most sought-after Mulberry bag of its time when it was launched in 2010. Its collector’s item status was sealed when the Victoria & Albert Museum featured it in its Bags: Inside Out exhibition in 2020, alongside other luxury bag design classics from across the globe. Over a decade on, the Alexa’s enduring appeal continues to inspire a new generation of fashion lovers with updated textures and detailing. Since the relaunch of this bag in 2020 we have seen multiple colors and sizes, all with the amazing Mulberry quality and a timeless allure.
This is a bag from the 2010’s that is already having a comeback!
9. Louis Vuitton Patent Leather Bags
I’m not talking about a specific bag here; I’m referring to any bag made in patent leather! In the early 2010’s we saw many Louis Vuitton designs with this finish and of course they were all oversized. The Fascination Lockit was a special launch that wasn’t available for long but was super popular within the fashion set. But of course the most popular Patent Leather bag was the Alma.
The large patent Alma was definitely an it bag, so if you have one hold on to it, it will be back in no time!
10. Yves Saint Laurent Roady Bag
Launched in late 2009 the Roady was there for the beginning of the new decade and represents the it style of the yearly 2010’s. Designed by creative director Stefano Pilati this hobo bag is minimalist, practical and stylish, and it didn’t take long before becoming a fashion girl staple. You could see this bag being sported by Kate Perry and Mary Kate Olsen, as well as on the set of Gossip Girl.
Understated but very fashionable, I can definitely see this bag coming back in style in just a few years.
