In my opinion there is not one clear superior brand, so I thought I would show you which bags I believe are better in each category. Work Bag: Saint Laurent Sac de Jour
Choosing between the Saint Laurent Sac de Jour and the Prada Galleria, the most classic bag of each brand, is not easy. But ultimately because of the big price difference, I have to go with the Sac de Jour. The most classic of all Saint Laurent bags the Sac De Jour was designed in 2013 by then creative director Hedi Slimane. The Sac De Jour or bag of the day was inspired by the Hermès Birkin and is one of those bags that will never go out of style. This bag also does not have flashy logos, only a small Saint Laurent Paris marking near the top. The Sac de Jour is elegant, chic and fashionable and with the different sizes offered they can easily go from work, to lunch, to a night out.
This is an investment bag that you will not regret buying. It will be one of your favorite bags for everyday wear!
Shoulder Bag: Prada Cleo Bag
Saint Laurent has some amazing shoulder bags, like the Le 5 à 7 for exemple, but the Prada Cleo is my favorite Prada bag. The Prada Cleo Bag is becoming a classic staple of the brand, it was launched in late 2020 and is more popular with each year that passes. The Cleo draws inspiration from Prada’s hobo bags from the 1990s archives and is crafted using traditional manufacturing techniques. Its construction incorporates some of the brand’s codes, including flowing lines, sloping sides and an enveloping shape. Feminine, elegant and modern, this Prada Cleo bag is made of fine brushed leather, an expression of the brand’s expertise.

Crossbody Bag: Saint Laurent Solferino Bag
This is a beautiful crossbody that can easily take you from day to night. This elegant and minimalistic bag was launched in 2020 and it was an instant hit. This new addition to the Saint Laurent collection fuses heritage aesthetics with a modern appeal. The bag is slightly boxy and carries the iconic YSL logo, it is a satchel style bag that comes in smooth leather and suede. It has an adjustable strap that allows you to carry this bag on your shoulder or crossbody.
This is an amazing everyday crossbody bag and is the perfect embodiment of the Saint Laurent style. That is understated while still being fashion-forward with a rebel appeal.
Backpack: Prada Nylon Backpack
The Prada Nylon Backpack is the most iconic and classic backpack in fashion history. In 1984, Prada forayed into a more modern aesthetic and released a bag made of pocono nylon – a material used for military tents. It was durable, water-proof and beautiful – and it was a massive hit. Prada became known for a cool, refined elegance – in direct contrast to the glitter-laden, sex-heavy 80’s. The first success of this style was the iconic black nylon backpack. In fact, this bag was such a hit that because of it Miuccia Prada was named one of the 30 most powerful women in Europe according to Wall Street Journal in the 1980s.
The Prada nylon backpack will never ever go out of style, it has been in the market for almost 40 years. If that isn’t a timeless style then I don’t know what is.
Evening Bag: Saint Laurent Le Anne-Marie Bag
None of Prada’s evening bags is as elegant and classy as this Saint Laurent bag. The newest bag of the brand it is super popular now, and is an amazing quiet luxury staple for 2024! Saint Laurent’s vintage-inspired ‘Le Anne-Marie’ bag is made from glossy patent-leather set within a structured gold frame. Sized to hold just the essentials, it’s stamped with the house’s logo and has an adjustable shoulder strap.
This is one of the most elegant shoulder bags you will ever find, it is an amazing evening bag.
Beach Bag: Prada Raffia Tote
While the Saint Laurent Rive Gauche tote is a great beach bag, the Prada Raffia has been so iconic in recent years I had to choose this one. Since its launch in the spring/summer 2020 collection this has been the most popular summer bag of them all. This tote bag with a soft, deconstructed design is made of raffia, a material of natural origin imbued with a summery mood.
