2022 is coming to an end, so it is time to see which were the best designer bags of the year! Some of the bags I’ll show you here were launched this year, others were trending non-stop, but they were all super popular and are still great options for 2023!
So, without further ado here are The 10 Best Designer Bags of 2022:
1. Prada Re-Edition 1995
This Prada bag is perhaps my favorite bag of the year! Prada is known for reinventing classic styles and this bag is one of their latest launches. This handbag, a re-edition of an iconic Prada bag of 1995, was first presented in Prada’s spring/summer 22 collection and is characterized by its elegant geometric silhouette with distinct, minimalist lines. Formal allure and practicality meet in its design with a central zipper closure and three internal compartments, enhanced by the sophisticated accent of the silver screen-printed lettering logo. The accessory is made of fine brushed leather, an expression of the brand’s expertise.
This bag is elegant, minimalist and I’m betting it will be one of the most beloved designer bags of 2023.
2. Saint Laurent Icare Bag
Saint Laurent’s Icare Maxi Shopping Bag, introduced as a part of the brand’s Summer 2022 collection, is a sophisticated-cool silhouette that is made for everyday wear. Luxuriously crafted with soft lambskin complemented with sleek quilting, the oversized, soft, voluminous shape is the perfect shopping companion. This effortlessly chic, fuss-free new addition to the Saint Laurent family will take you right through the day in ultimate, cool-girl fashion. Capacious enough to carry everything, this extra-large iteration is perfect for travelling. Seen already on the arms of Zoe Kravitz and Sydney Sweeney this bag promises to be the bag of the year.
The hobo oversized shape is the ultimate expression of the 2022 oversized bag trend.
3. Chanel 22 Bag
Presented for the first time at the Spring-Summer 2022 Ready-to-Wear show, the CHANEL 22 bag is the House’s latest bag imagined by Virginie Viard. Like its predecessor – the CHANEL 19 created in 2019 – its name refers to the year of its creation. Functional and light, made of an extremely supple yet resistant leather, this bag comes in three sizes (small, medium and large) and as a backpack version. Ever loyal to Gabrielle Chanel’s desire to give women freedom of movement and spirit, the CHANEL 22 bag is a genuine ally for daily life. Its interior, sophisticated and practical, closes with a magnetic button and purse-like drawstrings. It features an inside zipped pocket and a removable pouch held in place by a snap hook.
This bag has a legion of fans but also of haters, with some people calling it an overpriced dust bag. But there is no doubt in my mind that this is one of the most popular designer bags of the year!
4. Gucci Blondie
Launched earlier this year the Gucci Blondie is one of the most popular bags right now! Inspired by archival designs from the 1970s, the House’s newest line of handbags and belt bags is distinguished by a rounded Interlocking G hardware. Crafted from leather, this shoulder bag is completed by a delicate chain strap, infusing this accessory with a refined feel. There is also a larger version with the web shoulder strap and a mini one with a leather strap.
This bag taps into the retro revival trend that is a favorite of Gucci, creative director Alessandro Michele has once again presented a beautiful bag that is bound to be a favorite.
5. Telfar Shopping Bag
In 2005 Telfar Clemens founded his eponymous label, but only in 2018 it achieved the cult status it has today, when it launched the iconic shopping bag! The bag became extremely popular selling out in minutes after restocking, and is a favorite of celebrities like Beyonce, Lil Nas X, and Megan Thee Stallion. The bag was such a hit in New York, where the brand is based, that it was nicknamed the Bushwick Birkin. The highly sought-after brand was even recently mentioned in “Summer Renaissance,” the final track of Beyoncé’s July 2022 “Renaissance” album, earning the already buzzy label a boost in both searches and sales. The Telfar Shopping bag was so popular this year that it held in average a surprising and wildly impressive 195% of their retail value on the resale market according to Rebag, proving to be an excellent investment.

6. Saint Laurent Le 5 à 7
One of the newest launches of the brand this hobo bag fuses a vintage shape with a modern spirit, resulting in a beautiful bag that is quiet while still being fun. This Saint Laurent Hobo bag is neutral enough so you can pair with anything, but still interesting enough to give an exciting accent to any look. It’s compact but big enough to hold everything you need, the signature YSL logo at the clasp gives it major vintage appeal, and it is as timeless as it gets. Plus, its hobo shape makes it very trend-forward. This bag is new but is already iconic of the brand, it is one of the most popular bags right now.
If I had to choose one bag from the recent launches to say will become a classic, I would say is this one, this is a beautiful timeless bag you will love for many years to come!
7. Celine Matelassé Bag
This bag was first presented in February, on the brand’s fall 22 show, and is bound to be a favorite next year! This bag appeared on the instagrams of Celine it girls Kaia Gerber and Lisa from Blackpink, creating much anticipation and desire for the style. The new bag includes a quilted black base, a centered Celine logo made from gold hardware, and a gold chain to match so that the bag can comfortably sit on your shoulder. A brand that usually shies away from logos this bag wears the Celine brand loud and proud. Celine has also recently launched the chain Triomphe bag, which updates the classic style of the house with a chain shoulder strap and will also be popular in 2023.

8. Coperni Swipe Bag
The Swipe wasn’t launched this year, but it was so popular I had to included it on this list! This is a minimalist statement bag, if there even is such a thing. The shape makes a statement while the neutral colors are perfect for everyday wear. With its practical size and lightweight feel, the Coperni signature Swipe Bag tucks neatly under the arm and takes you seamlessly from day to night. The Swipe Bag is inspired by the ‘swipe to unlock’ icon of an iPhone. The bag features a shielded circular double-ended zip and can either be hand or shoulder carried.
Recently Coperni has launched the ring swipe, where the simple oval-shape is matched with a slim arching metal handle that loops elegantly over the shoulder.
9. Miu Miu Wander Bag
The Miu Wander bag is the newest bag of the brand and was one of the most popular bags of the year! With the iconic MiuMiu matelassé this bag has a youthful y2k style that is very current, not to mention fun! It is made from regenerated nylon using recycled plastic collected from the ocean and there is a newer version crafted in leather. Featuring Sidney Sweeney in the campaign, the bag comes in 5 colorful shades and neutrals, it also comes in mini, medium and large sizes. This version in nylon comes with a detachable pouch, becoming even trendier for 2023.

10. Valentino One Stud
A contemporary redesign of the iconic Valentino Rockstud, this is one of the best bags of the year. Designed by Pierpaolo Piccioli it was first presented in Valentino’s Spring 2022 collection. Valentino Garavani updates its platinum-plated pyramidal hardware with the magnified One Stud. This petite crossbody bag is made from quilted nappa leather with an adjustable chain-link strap. This crossbody is definitely a conversation piece and will light up any look.
In 2023 Valentino will continue to be super popular, you will not regret buying one of their bags!
