Welcome to our list of The 8 Most Iconic Givenchy Bags!
Givenchy bags are among the most coveted in the fashion world. The brand has a long history of designing beautiful it bags that are adored by legions of women. We have former creative director Riccardo Tisci to thank for some of our most beloved styles! He entered the brand in 2005 and soon designed the first it bag in the brand’s history, one that until this day is iconic of the brand. Tisci left Givenchy in 2017 and Clare Waight Keller took the helm until 2020, when current creative director Matthew Williams was appointed. Old or new, Givenchy designs will always be beloved staples in your closet, whether in the form of an evening clutch or an everyday bag.
So, without further ado here are The 8 Most Iconic Givenchy Bags:
1. Givenchy Antigona
Launched in Givenchy’s fall/ winter 2010 collection, the Antigona bag is probably the fashion house’s most renowned piece. Minimalist, structured, and elegant, the Antigona immediately won the hearts of many icons, such as Beyoncé, Chrissy Teigen, and Naomi Watts, as soon as it became available for purchase. It was named after Antigone, from Greek mythology, and perfectly encapsulates Givenchy’s former creative director’s fascination and love for the feminine/masculine contrast. The Antigona is beautifully structured and usually crafted in calfskin leather. This piece features a triangular GIVENCHY patch, oversized zip, and an adjustable and removable shoulder strap. This is the most iconic Givenchy bag and continues to be popular until this day.
Recently Givenchy launched different iterations of the Antigona, like the Antigona Sport and the Antigona Lock, but the original one is still my favorite!
2. Givenchy Cut-Out
One of Matthew Williams’ first creations for Givenchy, the Cut-Out bag stood out in the Spring 2021 collection. This new piece exudes class and edge at the same time. It features a unique V-shape design, a shoulder strap, and a G cube chain for you to wear as a shoulder bag. The Cut-Out bag is available in an array of colors and materials, and two sizes, small and large. Refreshingly unique in shape and silhouette, the bag oozes an incredibly cool vibe and is recognizable without any in-your-face logos.
While the Cut-Out Bag is cool and undeniably different, its uniqueness is what makes the silhouette stand out.
3. Givenchy Pandora
Pandora’s jar was roomy enough to contain all the evils of the world and Givenchy’s Pandora bag is the Pandora jar’s perfect incarnation in fashion. It mixes versatility, comfort, practicality, and urban-chic vibes altogether. This style was officially launched in the acclaimed Givenchy fall/ winter 2009 collection designed by Ricardo Tisci and was an instant hit. This piece has become iconic to Givenchy with its unique cube silhouette. The Pandora bag also features two metal zips, a single handle (if you want to wear it as a handbag), and a removable shoulder strap. It is typically crafted in 100% goatskin leather and features the brand name at the top, making it a must-have piece.
In the 2010’s this bag was a favorite of Reese Witherspoon, Kim Kardashian and many other fashion lovers.
4. Givenchy 4G
Only introduced during the Pre-Fall 2021 collection, the 4G bag is quickly becoming a timeless classic. Aptly named, this piece features the brand’s archival four G logo that was developed by Givenchy’s founder Hubert de Givenchy. Crafted in smooth box calfskin leather and with a removable shoulder strap, the 4G bag is one you should definitely consider. You can carry the bag on the shoulder, crossbody or even tuck in the strap and carry it as a boxy clutch, and you can choose between the different straps and chains.
The Matthew Williams design is an easy everyday bag that carries the edginess of the new Givenchy.
5. Givenchy Nightingale
Meant to follow the utility trend that was all the rage in the mid-2000’s, Givenchy’s Nightingale satchel bag instantly became an it-accessory. Named after Florence Nightingale, an English social reformer, statistician, and founder of modern nursing, Givenchy’s Nightingale comes in various colors and finishes. It can easily go from day to night, as well as from winter to spring, becoming the statement item anyone needs to complete an outfit. The Nightingale bag features two soft leather top handles, comes with either the Givenchy signature emblem logo or the unique cross-body strap with zipper detail. This bag was an icon of the late 2000’s and early 2010’s, it was a favorite of Rihanna, Nicole Richie and the Olsen sisters.
As most Ricardo Tisci bags this one you can only find in the resale market.
6. Givenchy Horizon
As soon as Givenchy’s Horizon bag debuted in the fall 2016 collection, everyone instantly knew a new fashion star was born. One of the last bags designed by Riccardo Tisci you can see how much it differs from the current Givenchy bags. This one is minimalist, clean-cut and elegant, a bag that depending on the size can easily be sported to the office as well as an evening out. The Horizon is a simple tote-style satchel with a banded detail at the handle base, which serves as the primary design detail. This bag reminds me of the Saint Laurent Sac de Jour, but it is distinctly Givenchy. The Horizon was inspired by Audrey Hepburn for the modern, mature woman that is in need of an elegant, classic bag.
Givenchy doesn’t sell this bag any more, but you can still find it on resale platforms.
7. Givenchy Kenny
Starting with the newest Givenchy bag this one was introduced in Matthew Williams’ spring 22 collection. The Kenny packs a punch in both statement and style. It is designed for both day and evening and is a beautiful representation of the brand’s DNA. The Kenny is reported to be inspired by Kendal Jenner; the bag was seen the first time in her hand in a Met Gala after party. Crafted in Italy, Givenchy’s Kenny shoulder bag is crafted of draped-effect leather with a removable 4G padlock and G Cube chain handles. As the Purse Blog said: this is a bag that begs to see and be seen.
The Kenny bag is the perfect modern-day carryall, melding high-fashion elements with hints of casual streetwear.
8. Givenchy Voyou Bag
Givenchy’s ‘Voyou’ is a bag you’ll still be reaching for in years to come. Crafted from black textured-leather, it’s designed with a fold-over top and accented with gold- and silver-tone hardware and buckle-fastening details. This versatile everyday hobo, seen on the Spring Summer 2023 runway, combines sophistication with a casual slouchy design for a chic look. Available in mini, medium, and large sizes and a range of colors this bag will be a staple for spring!
As I said, buckle bags will be super trendy this season, you’ll be wearing this one on repeat!
