The History of The Bottega Veneta Jodie Bag

Welcome to The History of The Bottega Veneta Jodie Bag!

Bottega Veneta has set a new standard for Luxury since its founding in Vicenza in 1966. The brand is inspired by Italian culture, defined by quality materials and impeccable craftsmanship. Bottega doesn’t use logos, they rely on their designs and artistry as the brand’s hallmark. And the Jodie is one of the brands most iconic bags!

The History of The Bottega Veneta Jodie Bag:

The Jodie is the most classic style of Bottega Veneta, it was originally designed in the 90’s and it caught the eye of Jodie Foster. Foster was spotted multiple times with the bag, so the brand renamed it in her honor. In 2020 creative director Daniel Lee brought the Jodie back, in a few sizes and materials. The Jodie bag is the perfect combination of Bottega Veneta’s history with Daniel Lee’s iconic style.

The bag has a looped handle silhouette that is very chic, and is crafted in the house notable Intrecciato weave. In the Bottega Veneta’s beginnings the sawing machines weren’t suited for working with robust leather, so the craftsmen came up with a solution. In order to utilize delicate, supple leathers effectively, the brand opted for a woven pattern to supply its handbags with durability. Intrecciato was chosen as the name because it is the Italian word for “braided.” Intrecciato appears in many of Bottega Veneta’s bags, including the Jodie. Today Intrecciato is the most iconic symbol of the brand!

Since the relaunch the Jodie has become super popular. The mini size was very trendy in 2021, but now the teen and medium sizes are the ones on the spotlight. In whatever size it is the perfect bag for everyday wear! In addition, this is the most classic bag of the brand, it will never go out of style. And, I have to admit, is one of My Favorite Designer Bags!
