Welcome to our post about The Ultimate Guide to Buying Designer Bags!

Are you considering splurging on a designer handbag? Before you make that purchase, you need to read this post. Trust me, it could save you from making a costly mistake! Today, we’re looking into the dos and don’ts of buying a designer bag. Whether you’re a collector or a newbie to the luxury scene, this video is packed with valuable insights that you won’t want to miss.

So, without further ado here is The Ultimate Guide to Buying Designer Bags:

1. Understanding the Investment

First things first, let’s talk about why buying a designer bag can be more than just a splurge—it can be an actual investment. We’ll explore the factors that contribute to the value of luxury handbags and how to assess whether a bag is worth the price tag. You probably heard the term investment bag and was skeptical about it, how would a bag be an investment? Let’s be clear: a bag, no matter which bag it is, won’t make you rich, and you shouldn’t buy a bag with the intent of making a lot of money on it. With that said, there are bags that are actually more expensive on the resale market than they are on the primary market.

This happens because of many factors, but mostly because of offer and demand. If a designer bag is not easily available on the brand’s store people go looking for it on the resale market.

That happens with the Hermès Birkin bag, the brand only sell the bag to loyal costumers of the brand and even than is not guaranteed they would sell the bag, so when a Birkin bag is sold on the secondary market it sells in average for 110% of the original price. This means that if you bag a Birkin bag on an Hermès store for $10,000 you could sell it on the resale market for $11,000. They can go for way higher. The condition of your bag is extremely important when it comes to resale value. The bags that are well kept and don’t present signs of wear are the ones that command the higher prices.

Cost per Wear:

Of course there is a little thing called cost per wear, it means how much do you pay for each time you wear the bag. The more you wear the bag the cheaper it is! That is why a designer bag that will last you many years has a lower cost per wear than a fast fashion bag that would only last you a year or two at the most.

2. Quality Over Quantity

In a world of fast fashion, it’s easy to get caught up in the hype of trendy pieces. However, when it comes to designer bags, quality should always take precedence over quantity. We all have different goals when buying a designer bag: you might be a fan of the brand, you might be looking for outstanding craftsmanship or you might just want to be in on the trend. Fact is, something attracts you to a luxury bag, but when it comes to curating a bag collection impulsive buys are not are not what you want to be doing. So what would the perfect bag collection look like? A mix of classic and timeless bag with some trendy pieces

Heritage brands like Louis Vuitton and Chanel have bags that have been around for centuries, so they are guaranteed not to go out of style. Of course you can buy that trendy bag you have been dreaming of, but beware, it might not be so trendy in a few years. While the classic handbags will always be chic and in style.

3. Finding Your Style

I can talk all I want about the most classic designer bags on the market but at the end of the day all that matters is if you like it or not. If it fits your personal style or not. First of all you want to identify your needs: you need a roomy tote bag for work, a classy top handle for everyday or a fabulous going out bag? Then you should think about your own personal style, if it is more classic, trendy, laidback, girly or androgynous. Now look for a bag that fits both your needs and your style, there are so many options on the market I’m sure you will find the one for you.

Just remember: it doesn’t matter if it is the most beloved bag in the world, if you don’t love it, is not for you. Your own taste is the only one that matters when buying a designer bag!

4. Budgeting Wisely

Let’s face it—luxury handbags don’t come cheap. But that doesn’t mean you have to break the bank to own a designer piece. The most important advice I can give you is: don’t buy impulsively! Make a plan before buying a bag, make sure you can actually afford the bag and remember that no luxury item will ever be worth going into debt for. No luxury bag is a need, they are fun luxury pieces we love but at the end of the day they are just bags. There are also so many more affordable options that I’m sure you will be able to find bag that fits your budget just fine.
