So without farther ado are is the battle between the Chanel 2.55 and the Chanel 11.12!
The History of the Chanel 2.55 Flap Bag:
In February 1955, Coco Chanel created the 2.55 Flap Bag, and history was made. The bag was the first ever handbag to come with a shoulder strap, freeing women from the impractical clutch. Every detail of the bag caters to women’s needs. The space in between the two internal pockets is designed to hold a single lipstick, and the back outside pocket is designed to securely hold money without opening the bag. History tells us that when she was designing this bag Coco Chanel was having an illicit affair with a married man, so she designed the zippered inner pocket so she could hide love leathers in there.
The name 2.55 comes from the date of its creation, February of 1955. This bag is to this date one of the most classic, iconic handbags ever. It also served as inspiration for some of the most popular bags we see today, like the Chanel Classic Flap. Is that kind of bag that will never go out of style. Besides, you can wear it from day to night!
The History of the Chanel 11.12 Flap Bag:
Today Chanel’s most iconic bag is the Classic Flap Bag! In spring 2021, the Chanel Classic Flap was renamed to the 11.12, in honor of the original Medium Classic Flap’s style code – A01112.
The brand’s most recognizable bag was designed in 1983 by Chanel’s creative director Karl Lagerfeld. He reinterpreted the classic Chanel 2.55 bag which was designed in 1955 by Coco Chanel herself. The 2.55 Flap was the first designer bag to ever come with a shoulder strap, freeing women form the constraints of the impractical clutch. Lagerfeld’s design featured an intertwined chain and leather strap and the iconic Chanel logo turn-lock closure. Since it’s launch the Classic Double Flap was a breakout success!
Almost 40 years later and out of all Chanel handbags on the market the Classic Flap remains one of the most iconic designer bags ever crafted! The History of the Chanel Classic Flap is as iconic as the bag itself.
And the winner is…
The Chanel 2.55 is the most classic, but the 11.12 is the most iconic! Since they both cost the same and will never go out of style, it is really a matter of opinion, but I have to choose the 11.12. The Classic Double Fall will always be an icon of Chanel and would be an incredible addition to any handbag collection.
And there you have it, the 11.12 is the winner in the Bag Battles: Chanel 2.55 Vs Chanel 11.12!
